The Hunter Foundation is delighted to have acquired Blair Castle and Estate as our headquarters and location for all our leadership programmes.
It would be hard to find a more historic location for our philanthropy – the history at Blair Castle in Ayrshire stretches back over 900 years and our walls, it is said, were constructed by Norman Invaders. It is now a breath-taking home.
In 1165, King William I of Scotland conferred the Barony of Blair upon Jean Francois. His son, William, then changed the family name to Blair, Bryce de Blair fought with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, and his descendant, Sir David de Blair, was knighted by Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314. Wow!
Thankfully however whilst Blair Castle is all history on the outside, surrounded by 220 acres of ancient woodland, parkland and private gardens, inside the castle delivers on all our philanthropic needs; a truly wonderous location.
We are also honoured to offer Blair as a home to our values-based leadership programme partners, Columba 1400 to complement their facility on Skye.
On the very rare occasion we have capacity, and to contribute to Blair’s running costs, we do release Blair for Exclusive Use hire for corporate events, private celebrations and family gatherings, click below to find out more.
