Blair castle dates back to the early 12th Century when the Barony of Blair was granted to
Jean Francois of Norman descent. He built the first Peel tower in around 1105. His son William changed his name
to Blair and is believed to have married the daughter of King John of England. Blair castle
is reputed to be the oldest continuously inhabited mansion house in Scotland that has not been rebuilt. The castle
has been added to by successive generations. Blair remains in the private ownership of the family
who are descended from the founding family.

Blair is a beautiful balance between the need for modernity and historical integrity.
The first Norman Tower, featuring the Guard Room, contains original weapons and artefacts used by the Blairs
in the course of their tumultuous history. Staying at Blair castle offers the opportunity
to step back in time, yet enjoy the luxuries of modern living in a truly unique and exclusive setting.
